Queen of my own Castle

It was approximately eight years ago that I had this funny little thought. That thought was that if I didn't get out now, I was doomed to grow old living at my mother's house. So, it was decided then that I would venture out on my own, and become part of this grand society of homeowners. Little do they tell you that to become a member of this elite group, comes a vast expanse of responsibility. That tidbit comes much, much later. I mean, I knew there was some, I was after all a graduate of the prestigious Syracuse University, but the amount was unfathomable.

Not long after I was granted the keys to my new kingdom, I soon discovered that there was a lot I was not prepared for. There were dishes, and cleaning, and then there was the issue with the laundry. All things that I had not had to worry about ALL the time when residing under the safety and security of my mother's wing. And don't even get me started on the topic of yard work.

Yes, when I was younger, living with my father, there was a certain about of yard work I had to complete in order to procure a little cash each week, but holy crap the yard work that has to be done all by yourself when you live alone as I do. Sure, my two four legged roommates keep away intruders, but they're no help with it comes to cleaning up after themselves, let alone attempting to landscape or weed. I can't imagine how much there would be if I had an actual "big house" yard!

So here it is, eight years since becoming the Queen of my Castle, that I have decided that I will take on my back yard. I'm not sure what exactly what I'm going to do to it, all I know is, it needs a tummy tuck, if nothing else a facelift. Better to hit it now, when it's still a tolerable heat, than in a month or so when it's like death valley outside. I'll be sure to post pictures as I go for you, my trusty followers can witness the transformation!
